09/27/2007: "Ralph update..."

Ralpie (79k image)

Went to the doctors on Tuesday- Chemo was keeping the cancer from spreading but due to the deterioration of his health, it has been halted. The doctor ordered in Hospice. The put him on oxygen (scary for a heavy smoker) but he fell yesterday while hospice was there and has dementia and today his oxygen level dipped into the 60's (should be in the 90's) so the placed him in a nursing home. Linda and I went up tonight and it sucks- smells, inattentive staff and they served hot dogs and cheese curls for dinner- what kind of dinner is that. We are hoping Joann will put in for the house (3 people fighting for the farm), get her moved and then move Ralph to Kansas City into a nicer place. This is all so sad and tough on Joann and Linda. Say some prayers- we can use them.

Joann sold the farm today and Sunday will buy the house- we hope to get her moved this month. If Ralph is still here with us we will move him to Kansas City. Crazy times.

Our prayers are with you and i send Linda and Joann comforting hugs... wish they could be in person ones. It is hard to watch those we love suffer. Stay strong and know that we all are thinking of you at this difficult time.

Every new day seems like he slips further away- Joann said he needed to go be with God so he could be at peace. It is hard to watch.I am aware this is the life cycle but sometimes I wish it would just pass by me and my family- I'll keep everyone updated.

You are in our thoughts, Ralph in our prayers. Its sad that there is a fight for anything at this point. Take of each other, we will talk soon.
