10/30/2007: "Not looking good..."

Last night we got a call that Ralph was not doing well. He fell Sunday, became disoriented and was placed on morphine. Yesterday they said they though he would pass within 48 hours. Linda and I went to the nursing home last night and stayed till 11ish and then came home- hour drive. Today he is having trouble breathing so is in a chair sitting up (they brought in a recliner). Haven't heard anything else today. Linda and I talked about bringing Ralph home to die but last night we made the decision to leave him where he is- he is close to family which suddenly have appeared and it is necessary to have those people say goodbye. This process sucks and it would be ok with me if I never go through it again (wishful thinking!). Prayers are always welcome.

I am so sorry to hear that things are not going well. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Take this time to be with Ralph and Joanne and make them feel as comforted as they can. I am always here for you guys. Sending you lots of love and hugs!

Linda, I have everyone out in the yard and praying, LOUDLY. Hope it all works out, and I am sure it will. Hang in there. It seems when you don't think you can take any more it will get better. You need to go to the doctor and make sure you are ok. Keep us informed. Love Mom

I am so sorry to hear this news. Three days ago everything sounded so optimistic for his coming home. We certainly do send prayers and well wishes for both Linda and Joann. (Hugs too) I am so sorry to hear of this. I was so hoping that things would be set in motion for a homecoming. I send congratulations to Joann for the new house and please do tell her i am thinking of her and Ralph. My love to you guys.

Linda's sister gets the house tomorrow- unfortunately it looks like to late to get Ralph home. Maybe having a new home will help her through her grieving process.
