02/06/2008: "Ash Wednesday..."

wednesday (45k image)

The mark of the cross made in ashes across the forehead is a visible sign of repentance and a reminder of mortality. Lent marks the 40-day period from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday, when Christians celebrate their holiest observance, the resurrection of Christ. Traditionally, the Lenten season includes fasting, praying, charity and other methods to get closer to God.

The priest on Wednesday said to get up in the morning and say "Hi God, guide me in your way today." How easy is that and what a nice way to start the day. Mom

I think we need a pretty pink checklist on the website and everytime someone does a good deed, they get nominated and receive a pink check that we could show as a post and then in a list for people to keep track (I want to know how many pink checks I have for heaven - I lose track). Might be fun just to see the nice things that people do and it will make them feel good that we post their pink check for all to see.

I did not go get ashes but we did eat fish yesterday!

Of course. You gain a pretty pink check ... or two!

Does shoveling snow and moving people count toward "getting closer to God"?
