06/14/2008: "Sad day..."

russert (8k image)

"Tim Russert was a gentleman and giant, not just in politics and journalism, but in life. And through that life, he gave us all a model worth emulating. With a reasoned voice, a sharp mind and a fair hand, Tim took the measure of every Washington official and all those that sought to be one. He was a great journalist and an even better friend. His passing is a tragic loss for us all, but especially for the family he loved so much."

This is a truly sad day for the people of this country. He will be missed, mostly by his son and wife. He was one of the good guys and they don't come along very often. Mom

Sometimes things just hit you- this one makes me cry. He was so real and honest. His smile was infectious, his knowledge was extraordinary in that he made us all understand and he loved his family more than anything. He will be missed.

I was at the hopital with Bob for his check-up when this came on the news. I gasped, everyone came running and I was heart-broken. I loved Tim Russert and I have to say that this election will just not be the same without him. He made things easy for the average person to understand. I will truly miss him on the Today Show- they are like my second family- I wake to them everyday.

I am just grief stricken over this. I watched Meet The Press on Sundays and just loved Tim when he would moderate the debates or was on the Today Show or on to make sense out of the election process. You just know this guy was the real deal.

Whoa! How did he die?
