02/23/2009: "It's here...Kindle 2"

Kindle2 (29k image)

Kay once told me when she saw the e-reader, she thought of me. I looked but never gave it a second thought. Then...I started running out of room to store my books and books have gotten very expensive so I took a second look. A little pricy but here is what it offers:
Slim: Just over 1/3 of an inch, as thin as most magazines
Lightweight: At 10.2 ounces, lighter than a typical paperback
Wireless: 3G wireless lets you download books right from your Kindle, anytime, anywhere; no monthly fees, service plans, or hunting for Wi-Fi hotspots
Books in Under 60 Seconds: Get books delivered in less than 60 seconds; no PC required
Improved Display: Reads like real paper; now boasts 16 shades of gray for clear text and even crisper images
Longer Battery Life: 25% longer battery life; read for days without recharging
More Storage: Take your library with you; holds over 1,500 books
Faster Page Turns:20% faster page turns
Read-to-Me: With the new Text-to-Speech feature, Kindle can read every book, blog, magazine, and newspaper out loud to you
Large Selection: Over 230,000 books plus U.S. and international newspapers, magazines, and blogs available
Low Book Prices: New York Times Best Sellers and New Releases $9.99, unless marked otherwise

Pretty neat...will be much neater when it is in my hands- shipped today!
Edited: Easy to download, easy to use, easy to read...I like it!

It's easy and convenient but hard to tell where you are in a book. It has pages and percentages but still hard to tell how far you are...might change as I use it more.

It does look very cool, but I still like the feel of a book and I'm not sure if I could give that up. You'll have to let us know how you like it because I run out of room for my books too! I can't wait until David and I get to the point of adding built-ins in his office for library space.
