03/30/2009: "Helping Kelly move"

On Sunday, April 5 we are going to help Kelly move her furniture and boxes into a storage unit. We are gathering at 11:00 am. If you can help, please come on over. The more people we have, the quicker we can get it done. Thanks from Nana and Kelly. Mom

Thanks Dad and Kenny for your help sunday. Jeff, Laura, Rob and I had one trailer full and ready to bring to storage by the time they got here, Then we did about a half of load after that so I can almost see the light....10 more days and I will be living in Ithaca and 17 days til closing.....I just may make it!

Thanks Mom for posting....my time is so limited right now and really cracking.....two days to finish packing and between work makes it hard. Kate started Lax yesterday they lost their first game but she had a goal. She has a game Saturday up in Ropchester at Mercy which I won't get to due to packing and then hopefully can get to her game Monday in Newark but will be late due to my work hours.......GOD HELP ME is all I keep saying.......

Kelly, I obviously won't be home but I wanted to wish you good luck! Moving stinks and I have done it so many times in the last 8 years that it makes me want to cry. All I can offer are a few tips:

1. Get plastic bins to store stuff because they keep stuff dry and safe and they don't collapse. Then you have them later on for the next move or for storage.

2. Label everything very well... I have learned the hard way that if you don't label those boxes with what's in them well, you may never find the stuff again!

3. Don't stack too many boxes on one another and if you do, heavy on bottom and lighter on top. Sounds obvious, but I have done this and still ended up with collapsed boxes.

I'll be thinking of you! Be sure to pass on your new address soon! Good luck!
