05/02/2009: "Peace Festival"

colorpeace (118k image)

We had as much fun as in the past years. We still had Dinner for a Dollar with hotdogs. We still had kites and bubbles, and sidewalk chalk but added tie dye, prayer flags and a photo contest of Peace in Nature and Peace and People. We decorated our outside fence, made new
bulletin boards, and had adults perform the music- we had sax, guitar and beautiful harmonies. This was also an event for families to come and say goodbye to our principal. The kids sang "You Raised Me Up", we made Teresa her own Prayer flag. Next week we will have the kids sign the white panels. After they sang, Teresa handed out cupcakes and received lots of hugs. We had old, young and had a very peaceful day.

I would love to do this with Delaney's school, but it takes having leadership on board and I don't know the Principal good enough right now to know if she would support. Maybe in a couple years!

This is when I wish I was creative- I wanted to make the flag for Teresa but I can think it- can't always make it. I was very impressed with how it turned out...I need to make me one for home!
