“Can we be like drops of water falling on the stone
Splashing, breaking, disbursing in air, weaker than the stone by far but be aware
That as time goes by the rock will wear away."

06/22/2009: "The downfalls of the internet..."

cookbook (55k image)

A lot of people are dishonest, hurtful and can't be trusted. As proof in this ad- several companies took our cookbook off our page and they are selling it. That means those people go to our site- what else can they steal? So I took down birthdays as I do not want people to have that information. I know it makes it a little more boring but I think it is safer. Makes you wonder if you should be doing this at all?
Edited:Link back up and password protected. All sites I found have been removed from the web- think the threat of legal action for stealing might have worked. I'm sure it's still out there but good lesson for all of us. Erin- can you password protect Kris's fitness book?

The guys who was offering our cookbook with other on cd on Overstock auction wrote to me and apologized profusely. I told him that I didn;t bkame him because he got it from someone else in an aution that said he had the rights to sell... I explained and he totally understands and will not sell any more. I was happy that someone at least appologized.

Here's another one where they are auctioning off a cd with our cookbook: http://auctions.overstock.com/100-World-Class-Cookbooks-with-1-000-s-of-Recipes-on-CD/Books/item/44529297

I have already contacted them and hope to get it resolved.

This is very sad that there are people in the world that steal like this. I'm sorry that it has upset everyone. We do all have the cookbook tho and enjoy it. Did anyone tell these people that some of the recipes have ingredients that shouldn't be in there? Whoever pays for it will have bogus recipes and probably be ticked off when they try it. Oh, well, sorry. You can't even make a joke these days. Sorry to those who paid money to these dishonest people but you got a joke book. Get your money back. NOW. Watch what you put on the webpage guys. Don't put addresses or phone numbers as we have found out that there a lot of people out there that we don't want that information known. God, what a pitiful world we live in. God, help us. Nana

I can do it for the Fitness book as well. I'll try to get to that later today.

La, you can put the link back for the cookbook if you want as I have password protected it on my site now (I will send an e-mail with the info)... sorry all you unethical hacks out there who like to steal, but you made us do this because you sold something that was our families and WAS FREE. Anyone that we know that is interested in our cookbook, please contact us. If we know you, we can grant you access. If we don't, too bad for you and we apologize.

By the way, any search I've been doing, a lot of them come up with not having anything anymore so maybe some of your letters found their way in.

Every email I wrote to came back as bad- I don't know what to do except what I did- take it down.
What links Beth? Are they already bold? That's all I know what to do- by the way- the link to your site does not work- please send new link and I'll update it!

I don't think this blogging software has any way to only display certain links, etc. BUT, I can password protect the pdf so that we know the passwords and such... I was in the process of re-doing our cookbook a long, long time ago and never finished it... maybe I need to get on that and also make sure copyright info is on it and some legal info about not selling it and asking for permission to use it, etc.

I'm really ticked about this... it's ours and it was our choice to put it where we could get at it... someone cannot take something that is offered for free and just start selling it. Whoever took it and decided that they could do this is breaking the law... I'm not really all that familiar with copyrights, etc., but I still think this is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!

Erin said on Monday, June 22nd @ 10 :37 AM CST

Is there a way to make some links only visible when you log-in?

Beth said on Monday, June 22nd @ 06 :42 AM CST

Yeah, I couldn't beleive this when I heard it!!! I mean, I used the internet link to it all the time and I realized people could take it to use, but jeez... taking it and selling it? I hope you wrote to them to get them to take it down... that's got to be illegal. I think you should put a footer on our website with a copywrite statement for everything on the site.
