Because You Have Too Much Stuff
1. 1.4 million Americans suffer from chronic hoarding & clutter.
2. People burn 55 minutes a day looking for things.

Because It's Fun
8. 127sale.com

One Word Project
Here's how it works:

1. The word of the month? You choose. Pick a word that best represents you or your focus. Your word should inspire images throughout the month of February.

2. Once you've selected your word, share it here.

3. On February 1, begin shooting images that visually represent your word.

Americas Song...

This song makes you proud, gives you hope and Kelly asked me to post it- enjoy!

WILL.I.AM
From Delaware to Tennesse to Hawaii
From mountain tops
We have dreams from sea to shining sea
and now here we are

FAITH HILL
We have come
we have prevailed
who so ever dreamed, this is your will
Here we are
Here we are

SEAL ( & FAITH HILL)
At the dawn,
At the morning
Of a brand new day (a brand new day)
For all (for all)
In the spirit of our fathers

SEAL, FAITH HILL AND WILL.I.AM
America
America
America is beautiful (beautiful, yes it is)
My America
Your America
Our America is beautiful

SEAL AND FAITH HILL
And may God (may God)
Keep us together
Cause America (America)
Is beautiful (beautiful)

BONO
May liberty and justice ring for all
Let your dreams stand tall
May opportunities fall upon you
In the land of the free
MARY J. BLIGE
We have come
And we have prevailed
Who so ever dreamed, this is your will
And here we are
Here we are

BONO (& MARY J. BLIGE)
At the stars
And the risen
Of a brand new day (of a brand new day)
For all (for all)
In the spirit of the fathers (spirit of the fathers)

It's time to remake America...

image_3655004 (16k image)

“Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost, jobs shed, businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly, our schools fail too many, and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet. The time has come to set aside childish things. Today, I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America — they will be met.”

Say a little prayer...

shaunpray (122k image)

Shaun was out riding snowmobiles when he hit a rut and was thrown from his machine. They think he dislocated his shoulder and broke his clavicle. Say a prayer he heals quickly and it isn't too serious. Another athlete out of sports for awhile! This is way to many broken bones- Shaun, Kameron, Josh- drink more milk boys!

When two people fall in love...
you have sisters and brothers, boyfriends and girlfriends,
husband and wives, mother and fathers,
sons and daughters, aunts and uncles, cousins(even ones in yellow shirts).
You have good times and bad times, happy times and sad times and silly times too!

The spoiled under 30 crowd...

This story was found in my inbox this morning, author unknown. I thought this was cute.

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were when they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning .... Uphill BOTH ways .. Yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in heck I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it!

But now that...

I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a dang Utopia! And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't know how good you've got it!

1. When I was a kid, we didn't have the Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the dang library and look it up ourselves... In the card catalog!! (Do you even know what a card catalog is? Didn't think so!)

cardcatlog1 (100k image)

2. There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter... With a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!

letter (88k image)

3. There were no MP3's or Napsters! If you wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the dang record store and shoplift it yourself! Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ would usually talk over the beginning and mess it all up!

demo (20k image)

4. We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it!

5. And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

rotary (20k image)

6. We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'asteroids' and the graphics were horrible! Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

7. When you went to the movie theater there no such thing as stadium seating! All the seats were the same height! If a tall guy or some old broad with a hat sat in front of you and you couldn't see, you were just screwed!

8. Sure, we had cable television, but back then that was only like 15 channels and there was no onscreen menu! You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on!

bwtv (20k image)

And there was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons!

9. And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up, we had to use the stove or go build a fire ... Imagine that! If we wanted popcorn, we had to use that stupid JiffyPop thing or a pan with HOT oil and Real popcorn kernels and shake it all over the stove forever like an idiot.

10. When we were on the phone with our friends and our parents walked-in, we were stuck to the wall with a cord, a 7 foot cord that ran to the phone - not the phone base, the actual phone. We barely had enough length to sit on the floor and still be able to twirl the phone cord in our fingers. If you suddenly had to go to the bathroom - guess what we had to do..... Hang up and talk to them later.

That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled!!

You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980!

Regards,
The over 30 Crowd"

Playing for Change...

The Playing For Change Community is a group of artists and inspired people who have come together to connect the world through music. PLAYING FOR CHANGE: PEACE THROUGH MUSIC. The film brings together musicians from around the world — blues singers in a waterlogged New Orleans, chamber groups in Moscow, a South African choir — to collaborate on songs familiar and new, in the effort to foster a new, greater understanding of our commonality.

Transcending...

I just ordered her book-"The Middle Place" which is a memoir about Kelly Corrigan who was a happily married mother of two young daughters when she discovered a cancerous lump in her breast. She was still undergoing treatment when she learned that her beloved father, who'd already survived prostate cancer, now had bladder cancer. All these stories lead up to where she is now, in that middle place, being someone's child, but also having children of her own. I'll let you know- in the mean time, enjoy these words on women and strength.

Catch the reading bug...

readbug (115k image)

Reading has become a lost art.Reading a good book is slowly disappearing for many of us.
When was the last time you sat down and read a good book during the course of several weeks or a month?
If you haven’t, the National Endowment for the Arts says you are not alone.
Fewer than 50 percent of adults in this country are reading literature. The loss is 28 percent for younger readers, causing the NEA to declare a national crisis in the decline of reading.

Not surprisingly, reading is being replaced by television. The contrast between literature readers and non-literacy readers is startling.

* Literature readers watch an average of 2.7 hours of television each day.
* Non-literature readers watch an average of 3.1 hours of television each day.
* People who do not watch much television are 48% more likely to be frequent readers and are reading between 12-49 books every year.

As more Americans lose this capability, our nation becomes less informed, active, and independent minded. These are not qualities that a free, innovative, or productive society can afford to lose." We must return to reading!

I say- let's all read a book and share our thoughts with each other.

Where it all began...

beginning (116k image)
"I realized that, while I would never be my mother nor have her life,
the lesson she had left me was that it was possible to love and care for a man
and still have at your core a strength so great that you never even needed to put it on display."

With out them- nothing else would be...children, grandchildren, traditions, laughter, tears, joy, hope, tomorrow! Thanks mom & dad!

One of the big hits of this Christmas was the drawings by Delaney- I think she managed to put a big smile on everyone's face- and it comes back ever time I see it on the refrigerator door. Thank you so much Delaney!

Matty thought she looked "like poopy" (to quote her) in this photo, so I took one similar from the other pics and re-pasted her head. I also lightened it a little a removed some of the flash spots from our faces so we don't all look shiny. I tried to find one of the little girls to add in there, but none of them really worked well.

Christmas

familyxmas (142k image)

I just wanted to say Thank You for all the wonderful gifts that we got this year, but mainly for the visits from all of our kids from far away. It was so good to have all of you home with us. The dinner that you had was wonderful and I can't wait to see the pictures that Steve took. I hope they turn out ok. We are so blessed to have kids that care enough to give so much of their time and effort to do something that makes us happy. Please know that it did make us happy and also know that we love each and every one of more than we could possibly put into words. Thank you again. Mom and Dad
