In Loving Memory...

Today was not a great day for my family and I just wanted to let people know... Our Kitters died today around 5:00 p.m. My mom had to rush her to the vet because she was in a coma-like state. They were preparred to put her down, but the vet wanted to keep her for observation and after about an hour she died. For those who have pets, you know how devastating this can be. She was almost 17 years old, but that doesn't stop our family from missing her... especially since it was my parents last pet in the house. My mom and sister are most devastated, so if you get a chance give them a call and tell them you love them... and say a little prayer for our fat kitty.

We are looking at reading "Three cups of Tea" for the next book.
In 1993 Mortenson was descending from his failed attempt to reach the peak of K2. Exhausted and disoriented, he wandered away from his group into the most desolate reaches of northern Pakistan. Alone, without food, water, or shelter he stumbled into an impoverished Pakistani village where he was nursed back to health.
While recovering he observed the village’s 84 children sitting outdoors, scratching their lessons in the dirt with sticks. The village was so poor that it could not afford the $1-a-day salary to hire a teacher. When he left the village, he promised that he would return to build them a school. From that rash, heartfelt promise grew one of the most incredible humanitarian campaigns of our time.
In an early effort to raise money he wrote letters to 580 celebrities, businessmen, and other prominent Americans. His only reply was a $100 check from NBC’s Tom Brokaw. Selling everything he owned, he still only raised $2,400. But his efforts changed when a group of elementary school children in River Falls, Wisconsin, donated $623.40 in pennies, who inspired adults to begin to take action. The 283 foot Braldu Bridge was completed in 1995 and the Korphe School was completed in 1996. Since then, he’s established 78 schools. In pursuit of his goal, Mortenson has survived an armed kidnapping, fatwas issued by enraged mullahs, repeated death threats, and wrenching separations from his wife and children. Yet his success speaks for itself.

We leave tomorrow morning, driving back to Charlotte and a nice Italian dinner with the North Carolina family. We fly home Saturday morning at 6 AM.
Today was in the 70's, spent time on the beach soaking up sunshine- Linda is a little red, this is a nice way to end our stay.
Edited:We are back in Charlotte-change of plans...Kevin watching basketball, David out of town, Darian working, Matty with dad- the rest will do Chinese food in. It's all good!

We set out for a St. Patty's meal...we went to Molly Darcy's (not very good food) but Linda had fish & chips and I had Corn Beef & Cabbage and as you can see- green beer!

We did make it to the BrickOven to check out the antipasto and I have to say...the DiSanto version is much better. As always, we had to visit Margaritaville and had a hurricane and a cheeseburger! Last night we had a ultimate California Pizza which was very good. We hope to make the beach today- it has been raining since we arrived but has stopped today. So hope everyone has a great St Patrick's Day!

The morning started with the Leprechaun making an appearance: he turned pictures upside down, he turned a bunch of things around, he made messes in the shower and bathtub and he even turned the toilets GREEN! Then we moved on to Green Shamrock Pancakes to start the day. We are dressed very festive- "Because everyone loves an Irish Girl!" And off to school for a fun filled day! We are even going to our favorite Irish Pub for Dinner "McDonalds"! K

Delayed in Kansas City, overbooked flight, couldn't fit my luggage so they check it (pissed me off) but did make it in- Northwest lost a customer- but on to the vacation.
We are in North Carolina, raining but are going to spend this afternoon with Erin & David and Kevin and Kristie and Kris & the girls-GOOD TIMES!

CRUNCH TIME.....

sorry have been beyond overwhelmed with this house. Got the commitment from the buyers bank Friday and I have 38 days to finish packing, find somewhere to put everything (working on a storage unit and getting nowhere) and closing is April 24th. Have some packed but unbelievable and more overwhelming than I can say. Looks like I will have a lot to get rid of period! If I can get most it done and in shape by first weekend in April hoping to do a walk through sale and sell whatever I can. Now mind you I have 4 tvs for what??? and got rid of two already...just some much. And you wouldn't believe what I have thrown out already as painful as that has been. Then to top it off Hot Water tank released and emptied on me this past weekend so had to buy a new one $400 and Rob installed it for me....don't know what I do without him right now.

So looking to move all out weekend of April 17th - 19th. If there is anyone around that can help GOD knows I could use it. Major thing is getting the storage then I can start moving boxes myself so that all is left, is for the big move on the 17th, for the larger furniture I don't get rid of.

So that has been my life....Kate haven't seen much of her with her work, steady practice now for lacrosse and school and let's not forget the Shaunster! She has her Junior prom this weekend so if I can somehow get a picutre that I can post I will but since I don't have a camera may make it hard. Her dress is gorgeous and she will be BEAUTIFUL! So now back to putting more boxes together to pack up some more as Rob brought me another 20 something boxes today. So yes guess you could say begging for help at this point for the big move of large furniture. Let me know as I would truely appreciate it. Wish you were closer Erin could give you lots of things to fill your new house with!

Time to trade an hour's sleep for more sunlight in the evenings.
Most people will set their clocks forward one hour this weekend. Officially, the change to daylight saving time should be made at 2 a.m. Sunday, local time, though many folks will reset their clocks and watches before going to bed.
The shift also serves as a reminder to install new batteries in warning devices like smoke detectors and hazard warning radios.
In areas that observe daylight time, standard time will return on Nov. 2.
