"The wedding between Usher and his pregnant fiancee has been canceled two hours before the ceremony was due to begin."
I know people don't think this happens to anyone else but- not only was Usher canceled- it was 2 hours before- now this sucks! (though I still believe things happen for a reason).

And get down we did- Ralph, Joann, Linda and I went to see this today and it was great. We ate at Buca Di Beppo after. It was a very good time. This is the first time we have seen Ralph in about 3 weeks and I can not believe how quickly he is going down hill. We are going to the oncologist with him on Tuesday so someone is asking questions on how to proceed. We will then go to lunch because it is Linda's birthday and finally a movie (No Reservations).

Friday we are leaving for Osage Beach and staying at the Country Club Resort and Spa. Check out the restaurant- Bourbon Street Grill (I can't wait) which has world-renowned jazz clarinetist Lynn Zimmer and the Jazz Band. You can also get hot rock massages-Yum. We each have a deluxe suite and should have a nice time. I hope Ralph will be ok with all of this (his idea and request to go). Right now we are trying to be there, spend as much time as possible and support Linda's sister. I really could have done without this road again but God didn't ask me so we do what we have to do.

New Puppy!

We just got our newest roommate, Patch. He's so cute. For those of you who don't know, we already have a black lab (well, both are lab/retriever mixes) named Zelmen. My roommate Bethany raises them to be service dogs (wheelchair assistance). So, sadly, we have to say goodbye to Zelman this November as he will go on to get more training. He's the sweetest most well behaved dog, I'm going to miss him. But, now she is raising Patch, so we won't be completely dogless in November! Isn't he just the cutest!

Way to go Disney...

Walt Disney Co. on Wednesday became the first major Hollywood studio to ban depictions of smoking, saying there would be no smoking in its family-oriented, Disney-branded films and it would “discourage” it in films distributed by its Touchstone and Miramax labels. Disney Chief Executive Robert Iger also said in a letter to U.S. Rep. Edward Markey, whose committee last month held hearings on the effects of movie images on children, that the studio would place anti-smoking public service announcements on DVDs of any future films that feature cigarette smoking.
For once a company willing to live up to it's name ("Family oriented") even if it means lose of the good old green back. I support this 100% and so does Belle and her dancing partner (and yes I know she is now into Rapunzel).

Each member of my class has to give an oral presentation on a topic they will run across in a school setting. One of my student's chose adoption- the picture is of a family of 7 children who needed to be adopted. Now it is VERY hard to keep siblings together, especially a family of 7. A family from Alaska called and wanted to take ALL the kids. Here is a picture of the new family-

Bob passed his home inspection course and started a new business with several of his classmates. He also started a new job this week for a security firm and is working at Xerox in Webster.
Delaney- accomplishing great feats like her dad- manages a shoulder stand in the pool!

First they were tied, then in the 7th the other team scored 2, then they caught them to finally win the game! Kameron hit one that was a double and played well.
He will be taking a very nice rest in Canada with Clark and Kenny next weekend- I think fishing is on the agenda. Great game Kameron.

Newest project...

As you can see- there are weeds and the slope goes right into the back and not around the barn so during lots of rain- the barn sometimes floods and the back is showing rust. So...what is a women to do! I say scoop it out of there. Since the rocks were very heavy and it need some major dirt removal (two dump truck loads), it was best to hire it out. Then they can smooth it out, save the dirt to fill in where the sewers were put in and settled. Kelsie- where are you- I have some dirt to play in! Then we put in a drain pipe (you can see it over by Linda) and covered it with gravel. Now we just have to add plants (we are going to put in another tree and fill the hill side with tall grasses and then mulch it so we don't have to mow. We will add another diablo on the side and plant grass in the fall in the back yard.Home ownership- ain't it fun!

Bathroom continued...

This is the vanity and counter top I hope to replace in the bathroom (the one with blue walls, tan ceiling and white shower curtain). I also hope to put a dark wood laminate down on the floor to make it "pop" and then it will look very cottage and beach like. Unfortunately- these have to wait a while- getting the barn fixed (drain put in and dirt hill removed) took the remaining money saved for projects. Once I do a little more work- I'll replace these.
Here is an update on shower curtains- Linda thought it needed some color to blend it- I like it better.

We had a major storm (winds up to 60 mph, hail) move through- I never realized you could see the front move in- an actual line- light and blue on one side & dark and cloudy on the other.

* The weather in New York cooled down- Kansas City is heating up!
* They finally hired someone for Kris's old job (before promotion) so soon she will only have to work her new position- that will be a load off.

More projects done...

Well the tile is back up and the kitchen counter tops are done! Here is the kitchen overview. This is a close up of the new sink and faucet. We also scrapped the bathroom ceiling and had a horrible time getting paint to stick- we did a suede finish on the ceiling- that is a lot of small x's! We also painted the walls a sky blue, put in a new shower curtain and now it reminds me of the beach!

Miksang Photography...

Miksang is a Tibetan word that means 'Good Eye', and is based on the Dharma Art teachings of the late meditation master, artist and scholar, Chögyam Trungpa, specifically his teachings on the nature of perception.
The "good" part is that our world, just as it is, is inherently rich and vivid. The "eye" part is that working with the practice of contemplative photography, we can tune into these qualities of our world. This journey is actually quite simple-to see with our eyes wide-open and our awareness right there. In contemplative photography we work with the synchronization of eye and mind. When eye and mind are in the same place the moment by moment vividness of the visual world manifests itself and is appreciated fully. This manifestation is spontaneous; a flash of perception, the ordinary magic of the phenomenal world. When one connects with pure perception there is no struggle in making a heartfelt and brilliant photographic image that one can share with others.
